Part Time Contract until September 30th, with possible extension depending on funding.
This position will work directly with the “REACH OUT” Community Steering Committee that is supporting Thrive to create and implement an Action Process following a recent Needs Assessment on street outreach services, housing needs and individual support for those who are homeless or at risk of homelessness.
We are looking for someone to continue the REACH OUT initiative that began in Fall 2012. This person will continue to research, explore and facilitate discussion with community agencies and vulnerable individuals to explore the needs and gaps in services for outreach and housing support services. This project will continue to work with community agencies to improve capacity and collaborative services to deliver outreach services and housing supports to individuals with complex needs. This collaborative initiative seeks to create opportunities for groups to work together to develop and enhance appropriate services in our community.
We are looking for someone who is:
- Inclusive; non judgemental and creative
- Skilled in bringing people together: excellent at creating partnerships, networks, navigating systems and a creative problem solver
Understanding of the issues of lack of affordable housing, homelessness and a ‘Housing First’ philosophy;
Knowledgeable of existing community agencies in St. John’s working to address the needs for safe, affordable housing and housing supports
A visionary
Required Skills:
- Strong Facilitator, excellent oral and written communication skills, excellent organization skills; can work independently with minimal supervision and meets deadlines
- A diploma or degree in social science; or equivalent
- 3-5years in a community based agency in communication, facilitation and program development
- Background in Asset Based Community Development; Organizational Development, Community Collaboration; strength based and solution focused individual support
- Strong Research and Proposal Writing Skills
- Advanced computer skills in communication, presentations and document publishing;
- Flexible schedule, access to vehicle/reliable transportation
