The Rotary Leadership Coordinator is responsible for running the RLC program. The RLC program is a pre-employment program for youth ages 9-14 providing them with volunteer opportunities in the community. The coordinator will work with 9 youth supporting them to complete 60 hours of volunteer work over the summer. Youth will then receive a stipend at the completion of the 60 hours

Hours: 35 hours per week term position till the end of august Pay: $12-$15 per hour
Duties include:

  • Identifies 9 Youth Leaders to participate in the program
  • Schedules Youth Leaders’ activities
  • Monitors and records attendance
  • Ensures that there are a maximum 9 participants
  • Designs and supervises work projects
  • Plans Rotary Leadership Circle activities (including transportation)
  • Organizes the stipend spending trips, and goes shopping with the Youth Leaders
  • Works with Staff, and the Program Facilitator to determine costs for the project, and establishes and maintains a cash flow ( ensuring that all receipts and funds are accounted for)
  • Helps to organize Graduation Ceremonies and other special events as required

The applicant should:

  • have experience organizing programming for 9-14 year olds.
  • have education or training in coaching, teaching or recreational programming.
  • be able to provide clear direction and feed back to volunteers, youth participants and green team youth assistants.
  • have an in depth understanding of inner city communities
  • be able to communicate both verbally and in writing.
  • enjoy team work and be willing to assist other youth program leaders.
  • be able to provide a current criminal record check and child registry check
  • to be able to work afternoons/evenings
  • Current First aid and CPR training are assets
  • have a Drivers Licence.
  • Experience in coaching sports, working with youth or supervisory experiences are assets.
  • Creativity and ambition are asset
