The Rotary Leadership Coordinator is responsible for running the RLC program. The RLC program is a pre-employment program for youth ages 9-14 providing them with volunteer opportunities in the community. The coordinator will work with 9 youth supporting them to complete 60 hours of volunteer work over the summer. Youth will then receive a stipend at the completion of the 60 hours
Hours: 35 hours per week term position till the end of august Pay: $12-$15 per hour
Duties include:
- Identifies 9 Youth Leaders to participate in the program
- Schedules Youth Leaders’ activities
- Monitors and records attendance
- Ensures that there are a maximum 9 participants
- Designs and supervises work projects
- Plans Rotary Leadership Circle activities (including transportation)
- Organizes the stipend spending trips, and goes shopping with the Youth Leaders
- Works with Staff, and the Program Facilitator to determine costs for the project, and establishes and maintains a cash flow ( ensuring that all receipts and funds are accounted for)
- Helps to organize Graduation Ceremonies and other special events as required
The applicant should:
- have experience organizing programming for 9-14 year olds.
- have education or training in coaching, teaching or recreational programming.
- be able to provide clear direction and feed back to volunteers, youth participants and green team youth assistants.
- have an in depth understanding of inner city communities
- be able to communicate both verbally and in writing.
- enjoy team work and be willing to assist other youth program leaders.
- be able to provide a current criminal record check and child registry check
- to be able to work afternoons/evenings
- Current First aid and CPR training are assets
- have a Drivers Licence.
- Experience in coaching sports, working with youth or supervisory experiences are assets.
- Creativity and ambition are asset
