The West Central Women’s Resource Centre (WCWRC) provides services and programming to women and families in the West Central neighbourhood of Winnipeg. WCWRC is seeking a Drop-in Coordinator. Working with the Director: Programming and Human Resources, the Drop-in Coordinator will support community women using an empowerment and harm reduction philosophy. She is responsible for creating a welcoming environment and directing visitors and callers to the appropriate staff or resources.
Start Date: September 2013
Time requirement: 24-30 per week
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Creating and maintaining a welcoming environment in the reception and drop-in space
- Supporting the Childminding Program
- Supporting the Volunteer Program
- Supervision of drop-in assistants and reception volunteers
- Coordination of Drop-in services
- Coordination of snack program
- Organization, coordination and facilitation of community events
- Facilitation of advisory committee meetings
- Budget management
Qualifications
- Minimum 1 years experience in supervision of staff and volunteers
- Excellent organizations skills
- Strong conflict resolution skills
- Facilitation skills
- Proven ability to take initiative
- Strong computer skills
- Strong writing skills with the ability to prepare reports
- Awareness and sensitivity to issues of marginalization and diversity
- A strong understanding of the west central community
- Accessible to and supportive of community women
