ABOUT THE SPARK SERVICE
Spark is the Canadian CED Network’s capacity building service for community organizations in Winnipeg engaged in community renewal, poverty alleviation and social change using a community development or CED approach. Spark staff work with organizations to define their skill and capacity gaps, and then connect them to relevant resources. The centrepiece of the service is arranging matches between organizations and volunteers with specialized skills (from a wide variety of professions) to provide time-limited but crucial technical assistance. www.sparkwpg.ca

POSITION DESCRIPTION
This full-time position works under the direction of the Spark Program Manager, and is under the general supervision of the Canadian CED Network. The Recruitment Coordinator will have the responsibility of finding, recruiting, and supporting a broad base of volunteers with specialized skills such as; facilitators, business planners, consultants, lawyers, architects, designers to volunteer with local community organizations on specific short-term projects. They will do outreach to and work closely with community organizations to help assess their capacities and determine and prioritize their needs in order to ensure appropriate and successful matches.

Duties and responsibilities may change depending on future project goals and direction.

SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS

  • Strong knowledge of community organizations and organizational assessment, project planning, implementation and evaluation.
  • Experience working with a variety of organizations and with diverse groups.
  • Strong analytical and interpersonal abilities and excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong network of relationships with the professional community.
  • Volunteer recruitment, placement and appreciation experience is an asset
  • Experience in Community Economic Development practice and principles.
  • Familiarity with MS Office
  • Background, experience and training in community businesses and community development organizations is desirable.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES

1.      Outreach & Recruitment

1.1.   Outreach and presentations to potential organizational clients of the project

1.2.   Outreach and presentations to potential Providers (volunteers with specialized skills)

1.3.   Meet with potential organizations or groups to assess their project

1.4.   Meet with, orient and define roles of Providers

1.5.   Compare projects with the eligibility criteria and make the decision to accept or reject the projects

2.      Organizational assessment, brokering Technical Assistance services and/or referrals and and/or provision of Technical Assistance

2.1.   Review and assess the needs and requirements of accepted projects

2.2.   Broker relationships and contracts with the appropriate Providers to assist with specialized services (matches)

2.3.   Provide resource referrals to organizations when appropriate

2.4.   Provide direct technical assistance to projects when appropriate

3.      Monitoring & Evaluation

3.1.   Meet with organizational clients and Providers on a regular basis

3.2.   Ensure that final evaluations are completed by organizations and Providers after match contracts are completed

4.      Learning Events Support

4.1.   Assist with Canadian CED Network / Spark learning events

5.      Administration

5.1.   Assist with administrative support to the Spark Program Manager

5.2.   Maintain and constantly update records and statistics on outreach to volunteers, organizations, referrals made and matches brokered, for tracking purposes

5.3.   Provide regular reports to the Spark Program Manager

Remuneration: starting salary range, based on experience and qualifications $36,605-$43,065, plus generous leave and extended health benefits
