Vice-President & Chief Operating Officer

Our client, SMD Alliance Inc., is a not-for-profit committed to supporting and fostering a diverse and cohesive community for persons with disabilities. They are seeking a Vice-President & Chief Operating Officer to oversee the operations of one of their 4 divisions: SMD Services.
Reporting to the CEO, the Vice-President & COO of SMD Services will be responsible for providing leadership, direction and coordination for service and program delivery to meet the needs of people with disabilities in Manitoba. As the ideal candidate, your strong interpersonal skills are showcased by a history of successes in developing positive relationships with multiple stakeholders as well as having a strong passion for service.
The Role:
- Provide strong leadership and development to the organization’s delivery of programs and service.
- Oversee all operational requirements of the organization and lead the development of business plans and short-term goals.
- Make recommendations to the CEO on new initiatives, programs, policies and plans for discussion and approval.
- Stay abreast of current trends related to the organization’s programs and anticipate future trends likely to have an impact on the organization.
- Oversee the financial management of services including the development of budgets as it relates to program development and delivery.
- Direct the staff and management in being accountable to its stakeholders.
- Work in close collaboration with Human Resources to implement a comprehensive HR management plan to attract, develop and retain staff.
You and Your Experience:
- First and foremost, you have a passion and commitment to providing service and program delivery to your community.
- You have your Master’s degree in Public Administration or Business Administration OR a suitable combination of education and experience.
- You have experience working in a unionized environment.
- You have a minimum of 10 years’ experience in a senior leadership role within a social services, healthcare or non-profit organization.
- You possess effective decision-making and problem-solving skills.
- You have a strong business acumen coupled with experience integrating financial management with a social services mandate.
- You have demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to create a high-performance culture that inspires and motivates for the achievement of operational excellence.
- You have exceptional interpersonal and communication skills.
