Sustainable South Osborne Community Cooperative (SSOCC) is looking for a Program Coordinator to spearhead a new SSOCC initiative called Transition Streets

About the Position

Transition Streets will run from February to May 2014, and will engage several small groups of neighbours in the South Osborne community in a structured learning process geared toward reducing the environmental footprint of Winnipeg households. The program is designed to work at the block level and one of the goals is to provide an opportunity for neighbours to get to know each other better. They would be encouraged to undertake some small initiatives on their block to build interpersonal connections and contribute to the goal of sustainability. This process will be centered around a workbook containing content units pertaining to the lifestyle/consumption choices that individuals and families make. The groups will progress through the workbook together over a series of 7 meetings.

Responsbilities:

The Program Coordinator's main responsibilities will be to recruit participants and meeting hosts to the program, help the groups plan and schedule their meetings, and provide general support to ensure the success of the program. The work contract will entail approximately 150 hours @ $15.00/ hour, with the bulk of the work taking place in January and February.
