Youth Agencies Alliance (YAA) is an alliance of 19 non-profit organizations working together to address issues facing marginalized children & youth in Winnipeg, Manitoba. YAA is seeking an innovative and energetic Director with the vision to lead the organization into its next phase of growth. The salary range for this position is $35,000- $45,000 annually dependant on skills and experience plus benefits.

About the Position:
The Director provides overall leadership and management of YAA’s operations, programs, staff, and finances, ensuring effective results are achieved with the available resources within the context of YAA’s strategic and operational plans. The Director leads YAA’s fundraising program and represents the organization to the public, governments, media, partners and other organizations. The Director reports directly to the YAA Executive, an elected group of member agency directors.
Qualifications:
The ideal candidate will have experience in the successful management of a community-based organization or program, relevant post-secondary education, demonstrated skills and experience in strategic and operational planning, financial management, fundraising, and program planning delivery and evaluation. The successful candidate will have an understanding of community engagement practices, and a passion for helping youth and youth serving agencies succeed in our communities.
Duties include:
- Participate with the YAA Executive and general membership in developing a vision and strategic plan to guide the organization
- Develop operational plans incorporating the strategic direction of the organization
- Develop strong relationships and ensure clear communication with all YAA agencies
- Oversee the work of all YAA committees and sub-committees, the members of which are made up of various YAA agency directors and staff
- Ensure YAA agencies are informed of and connected to YAA activities and programs, and facilitate the exchange of information between YAA agencies
- Ensure YAA agencies are meeting their commitments to YAA
- Oversee the planning, implementation, documentation and evaluation of the organization's programs and services, ensuring they are reflective of YAA mission and membership priorities
- Develop and coordinate community partnerships, opportunities and projects
- Act as first point of contact for all organizations, groups, and/or individuals who wish to engage with, present to or partner with the YAA
- Prepare and submit reports to program funders
- Provide written reports for YAA Executive meetings. This report will include:
- Internal updates on staff changes, important programming changes, and internal projects (such as staff training, or HR policy development)
- Fundraising updates
- YAA committee and subcommittee updates
- Important events and issues
- YAA agency and community relations
- Upcoming work
- Financial updates
- Oversee the efficient and effective day-to-day operation of the organization
- Ensure a healthy, positive and safe work environment
- Develop and maintain a Human Resources (HR) manual with YAA Executive
- Oversee the recruitment, training and supervision of YAA staff and implement a performance management process
- Develop and maintain appropriate job descriptions for all staff
- Ensure staff are appropriately compensated
- Oversee the recruitment, training and supervision of all volunteers
- Create and maintain staff and volunteer files, including the successful completion of required security checks, such as the Child Abuse Registry Check and Criminal Record Check
- Ensure that all staff and volunteers understand and follow organizational policy and guidelines
- Other duties as assigned
The Director will seek YAA Executive approval for any new human resource initiative, including new hires, new programming, termination, and progressive discipline.
Financial planning and management
- Prepare budgets
- Secure adequate funding for the operation of the organization
- Administer the organization’s funds according to the approved budget; monitor the monthly cash flow of the organization; and provide the Executive with comprehensive, regular reports on revenues and expenditures
Community relations/advocacy
- Communicate with the community about the work of the organization
- Manage YAA’s media presence, in print, television, and on line
- Establish good working relationships and collaborative arrangements with community groups, funders, politicians, partners and other organizations to help achieve the goals of the organization
