Primary Purpose: The Data Analyst (DA) will work closely with the Project Director (PD), and through the PD with the Project Management Group (PMG) to coordinate data collection, synthesis and analysis to support research-based decisions to inform the design and implementation of an innovative model and plan for co-operative development in rural and Aboriginal communities in Western Canada. The DA will make recommendations on appropriate research methodologies, and will clearly delineate the type of information required to support project-wide decisions. The DA will also ensure that appropriate reporting models are developed to provide timely, easy-to-understand progress reports and research-based recommendations to the PD and the PMG. Finally, the DA will communicate research methodology and results to key stakeholder groups as appropriate and under the direction of the PD.
Nature of Work: The DA must be able to manage multiple demands on very tight timelines, including discerning how best to prioritize the collection of large volumes of information intended to support timely decision making. Challenges inherent with working with a wide diversity of groups and individuals, all with their own priorities and demands, will require a well-developed ability to both manage research projects (prioritize) while at the same time communicating reasons for specific decisions to stakeholders. The DA must also be prepared to work with co-operative development consultant(s) or staff hired to ensure that the data that is gathered, analyzed and reported supports the project’s co-operative development objectives.
The DA must make decisions about the proper data to collect and determine which analysis and research methodologies will best support the creation of a co-operative development model. While the DA will be required to demonstrate considerable independence in their work, they must also be conscious of when to involve the PD and specific members of the PMG in deliberations on appropriate research priorities, methodologies and reporting frameworks.
