The position requires a self-motivated and sales oriented person with the passion for and experience in empowering people with barriers to employment. The Resource Specialist is responsible for placing program participants in work experience placements and conducting follow up in order for participants to transition into employment.
General responsibilities include but not limited to the following:
- Develop and maintain relationships with a variety of business and industry representatives to promote and ensure successful participant job placement
- Make cold calls to potential employers
- Resume development with participants
- Match job skill requirements with participant qualifications
- Work with participants on an individual basis regarding their job search progress and
- Locate job openings for participants based on their individual skills and abilities
- Remain current on Winnipeg labour market trends and the most effective job search strategies, techniques and monitoring of marketplace trends
- Maintain and update employer database and tracking system
- Conduct necessary monitoring of participants during job placement to help with transition to
- Plan and coordinate field trips and guest speakers and attend site visits with the participants
- Complete reports and documentation on activities as required
- Attend meetings as required
- Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
- Completed post- secondary education or equivalent experience.
- Minimum one year prior related work experience.
- Experience connecting with Manitoba businesses and organizations and knowledge of labour
- Experienced in job placement.
- Experienced in resume development.
- Knowledge of immigrant and refugee youth employment needs and issues.
- Excellent verbal and written public relations/ communication skills.
- Must demonstrate ability to multi-task, prioritize and meet deadlines, while performing tasks efficiently and independently
- Must be client centered with excellent interpersonal skills
- Cross cultural experience and additional language an asset.
SPECIAL LICENSES, DIPLOMAS, CERTIFICATIONS OR REQUIREMENTS:
The successful candidate will hold/have:
- Current Certification in First aid /CPR
- Valid Driver’s license and access to a vehicle
- Criminal Police Investigation check
- Child abuse registry check

Job Grade $17-18.00/hour depending on experience
Term April 1 – March 31, 2015
Hours 30 Hours per week (Monday – Thursday)
