Riverdale Immigrant Women’s Centre (RIWC) is a charitable organisation with a mandate to serve South Asian and Chinese speaking immigrant women and their families by providing culturally appropriate and linguistically specific settlement support and counselling services with the use of community determined strategies, developed and delivered by immigrant women.
As part of a youth employment initiative to provide employment opportunities for youth facing barriers,RIWC has an opening for a Business Manager/Social Enterprise Developer who will be responsible for working with, and assisting RIWC in the development of a viable Social Enterprise in the East Toronto area.
Interested applicants must be under the age of 30; unemployed; not in school full-time; a resident of Ontario.
Reports to the Executive Director.
Job responsibilities:
Business Management
- Assess, refine, develop and monitor existing business plan
- Be accountable for achieving the revenue and profitability goals set out in the business plan
- Identify opportunities for campaigns, products and distribution channels that will lead to an increase in sales
- Identify and coordinate resources to deliver on time and on budget
- Supervise a diverse sales team including volunteers to meet targets
Social Enterprise
- Enhance and manage the development of the business plan to continue the growth of social enterprises
- Develop cash flow to ensure financial viability of the enterprise selected
Marketing
- Develop marketing analysis, sales and targets
- Develop marketing operational plans, goals, timelines, resources and budget projections over a 3 year period
Qualifications:
- Post-secondary education with a degree in Business Administration and 2 years experience
- Knowledge of social enterprise development combined with experience in the not-for-profit sector an asset
- Demonstrated experience in business and building client relationships
- Very strong project management skills
- Familiar with the “language” and terminology of business and entrepreneurship
- Proficient with computers, including knowledge of MS Office Suite, Internet, email use, etc.
- Proficient in or open to learning new technologies to support marketing efforts (WordPress, JIVE,
- Adobe Creative Suite design programs)
- Experience in financial acuity, budget planning and performance tracking
- Ability to work independently and within a team environment
- Excellent interpersonal and communications skills (oral and written)
- Analytical, problem solving & decision-making skills
- Experience working with diverse communities
- Self-starting, motivated by the opportunity to work independently to develop business opportunities and deliver on plans
