The Spence Neighbourhood Association is looking for a highly motivated individual to run our Skills Bank, tool lending library, and ID program. This is maternity leave position for a 1-year term, for 30-32 hour a week position. Wage will be determined according to relevant experience (between $13-$15/hour). 
 
The Skills Bank program is a community service that helps people become more involved in the local economy. It connects members to odd jobs in the community and provides other support for workers wanting to return or go out into the work force for the first time. Skills Bank provides supports such as resume/ job search, access to the tool lending library, references and referrals, and an ID program. 

Duties include: 

Skills Bank 
  • Receive and record requests for odd jobs 
  • Work with local businesses to create more job opportunities for community members 
  • Book and coordinate jobs for workers 
  •  Issue cash requests for payment 
  • Assist with workers’ pay days 
  • Maintain Skills Bank database:
    • enter and update new workers 
    • enter the evaluation of the worker for each job 

ID Program 

  • Verify clients’ address 
  • Enter client information into database 
  • Assign cheque pick-up date 
  • Provide document application for clients 
  • Assist with cheque pick-up 
Program Review and Evaluation 
  • We are also looking to do a complete program review and evaluation, and to assess where the program should focus in moving forward. Applicants with skills in program development and evaluation are encouraged to apply. 
Required Skills 
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills 
  • Supportive and encouraging with community members 
  • Ability to prioritize and problem-solve in fast-paced environment active lifestyle
  • Experienced and comfortable with Microsoft Office software
  • Knowledge of Spence Neighbourhood and resources in community
Assets 
  • Previous experience working with people that have employment barriers 
  • Knowledge of CED principles 
  • Conflict resolution skills 
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Access 
  • Resident of Spence Neighbourhood 
  • Strong interpersonal skills
