Ka Ni Kanichihk Inc. is a non profit, community based; Aboriginal led human services organization that provides a range of Aboriginal identified programs and services that focus on wholeness and wellness and that builds on the strengths and resilience of Aboriginal Peoples.
Ka Ni Kanichihk is now recruiting for the following position:
Finance Manager:
The Finance Manager is responsible for the administration of the financial business of the Organization. This includes planning, organizing, directing and coordinating the full range of accounting requirements.
Qualifications:
A CA designation is preferred, however, a related post-secondary degree, with an equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered. The incumbent must have experience and demonstrated ability to function at a senior managerial level. They must be a team player, challenged by working in an environment of change, committed to the aspirations of Indigenous restoration, able to work independently, and believe in excellence. The the ability to read, analyse and interpret common journals, reports and legal documents is expected, as well as the ability to effectively present information to management, and/or Council members.
Roles and Responsibilities:
- Designs, establishes and administer an integrated financial reporting system
- Develops and maintains appropriate internal controls
- Develops and presents annual budgets, and yearly audits in accordance with generally accepted auditing standards and accounting principles
- Works cooperatively with partner agencies, various levels of government, and other funding sources
- Ensures compliance with all federal regulations and requirements governing non-profits to properly reflect the financial position of the organization
- Ensures compliance with appropriate government regulations and policies
- Ensures maintenance of appropriate internal controls and safeguards
- Assists the Executive Director in securing funding
- Establishes and maintains an effective system of financial communications throughout the organization
- Prepares, presents, interprets and distribute financial reports to senior management, the Council and funders
- Supervises finance unit and the overall direction, coordination and evaluation of this unit.
- Produces and maintains budgets and cash flows
- Post journal entries and reconcile accounts
- Conduct and maintain accounts payable and accounts receivable
- Complete and submit the organizations legal and government required documents
- Prepares documentation for annual audit
- Calculate and prepare payroll
- Maintain personnel files on all employees
- Remains current on documentation and information related to benefits packages
- Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned
