Job Summary
Reporting directly to the Elmwood Community Resource Centre (ECRC) Board, the Executive Director implements the policies established by the Board of Directors and provides the day to day leadership, direction and guidance of Organization’s activities. The Executive Director is responsible for ECRC’s achievement of its mission and financial objectives and when directed, represents the Organization to regulatory bodies, other agencies, community and civic organizations, donors, funders and supporters, and the general public.
Duties and responsibilities
Works closely with the Board in establishing policies, setting strategic directions and developing short- and long-range plans to fulfillment ECRC’s mission and vision;
- Oversees the daily operations of all activities to ensure ECRC runs efficiently and effectively; supervises the planning, implementation and evaluation of the organization’s programs and services;
- Develops relationships with appropriate community agencies and drives collaborative, innovative partnerships for programming;
- Seeks, develops and applies for grants and other funding opportunities from government, relevant foundations, corporations and other donors;
- Assists in the development and implements fundraising strategies;
- Represents the organization in matters involving public and media relations, building positive liaisons with the community, funding organizations, agencies and other stakeholders;
- Provides leadership and direction in human resources; maintains a respectful workplace and attracts and retains top-quality staff and volunteers; ensures continuous quality performance;
- Facilitates Board and Committee functioning, and ensures Board is informed of all important issues;
- Ensures the implementation of sound fiscal practices and financial reporting, including the preparation of budgets, funding applications, and control of expenditures; fosters the highest level of accountability and risk management.
Qualifications
- Post-secondary education in Community Development, Social Work, or Public Administration
- Demonstrated managerial experience in not-for-profit sector
- Experience writing funding applications.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Proven organizational and time management skills
- Familiarity with the Elmwood community an asset
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs
Working conditions
- Non-standard hours of work.
- This position requires work outside the office environment.
- Use of a personal vehicle may be required.
- A valid driver’s license is required.
- Criminal Record Check and Child Abuse Registry Check is required.
