Community Futures West Interlake (CFWI) is a non-profit, regional economic development organization that provides business and community development services to the West Interlake region.
We are seeking an enthusiastic, self-motivated and organized individual for the position of Community/Business Development Officer. This individual will help to deliver the Community Futures Program’s mandate to support economic and business development in our region.
This is a full-time, term position ending March 31, 2015 with the possibility of an extension. Hours of work: Monday to Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. with occasional evening and weekend hours. Office location: Ashern, Manitoba. Will require travel; a valid driver’s license and access to a reliable vehicle is essential. Salary is in the range of $38,000 – $50,000 for the term. Commensurate with qualifications and experience.
Duties will include:
- Contact and arrange to meet with every listed business in our region to identify the supports our businesses need to sustain or expand, as well as market the CFWI services and loan fund.
- Provide direct support to our communities in community economic development.
- Helping community groups to identify and access government programs and services.
- Assist with the community economic development work of the Corporation including assisting with the preparation of feasibility studies and business plans for community projects.
Qualifications – A combination of education and experience will be considered:
- A Business Degree/Diploma or a combination of related education and experience in Community Economic Development and/or Business Administration
- Well-organized; able to set priorities and effectively manage time
- Must be competent with computer usage including Outlook, Excel, Word, Powerpoint, etc.
- Facilitation and presentation skills
- Excellent written and communication and leadership skills and the ability to work well with staff and volunteers.
- Ability to work effectively with Municipal Councils, Board of Directors, and Communities in achieving desired results.
