The Innovation Centre for Entrepreneurs (ICE) is located in St. Thomas, Elgin County. ICE is a mixed-use business incubator providing services and programs to entrepreneurs. ICE is a community-based, not-for-profit organization run by a volunteer Board.
ICE will be launching a new business program and service offerings for small business entrepreneurs and is accepting applications through the Ontario Job Creation Partnership (JCP) Program to staff the applicable project placements.
Eligible Candidates:
The Ontario Job Creation Partnership is an employment program that provides work experience to unemployed job seekers within projects that benefit the community or local economy. At the end of their participation, participants in the program will have recent work experience and additional skills to add to their resumes, increasing their chances of successfully finding long-term employment.
The position, as described below, is being offered under the Job Creation Partnerships Employment Benefit. To be eligible for this position you must meet one of the following criteria;
- An unemployed individual who has established a claim for Employment Insurance (EI) Benefits; OR
- An unemployed in individual whose EI benefit period ended within the last three (3) years; OR
- An individual who established and was paid a claim for EI maternity or parental benefits within the past five (5) years and is re-entering the labour force.
We are currently looking to fill the position of:
Youth Engagement Assistant
Overview: The candidate will assist in assessing program needs of ICE youth clients. Talk to stakeholders to develop program needs and provide input on program requirements. Work with youth and partners as assigned to ensure full needs of youth are understood and met.
Trial program activities to vet interest and level of contribution of client. Engage youth in pilot project. Targeted youth client’s analysis for age, interest, partnership attraction. Survey their needs including financial requirements to start a business. Consider differences between at-risk youth in business and youth entrepreneurs. The candidate reports to the Business Development Manager.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Evaluate and present opportunities that will engage and benefit youth in the ICE new services programs
- Identifies, adapts, creates new program workshops suitable for youth business entrepreneurs
- Assist in understanding needs and determine soft skill training requirements for youth
- Participate in sustainability planning for youth programs.
- Research grants opportunities. Assists with proposal preparations
- Identify the training medium and the form the training should be presented
- Other duties as may be assigned
Qualifications and Requirements:
- Special interest in Youth Business Success
- Ability to engage and motivate youth
- Well-developed interpersonal skills
- Competent and experienced in social media platforms and interactions
- Skilled at interpreting clients’ needs and translating ideas
- Excellent communication skills
- Knowledge and awareness of youth programs and services
- Business experience working as a team player

Additional Information
- The position will be Monday to Friday
- Hours of work: 30 per week
- Weekly salary $423
