Reporting directly to the Executive Director, the Community Economic Development Manager is responsible for:
- Managing, developing, and implementing new ideas to enhance NEWC’s social enterprise the Up Shoppe (www.upshoppe.ca)
- Developing and implementing new employment programs for women facing multiple barriers based on funding and community need
- Developing and implementing NEWC’s volunteer program based on community need
- Supervising staff and volunteers in NEWC’s Community Economic Development Programs
- Promoting NEWC and the Up Shoppe in the community through social media and website development/maintenance; creating, updating, and distributing brochures and posters; community networking; presentations; and more
- Researching new funding opportunities and writing funding proposals/reports as needed.
The CED Manager reports to the Executive Director; is a member of the Management Team; and oversees the Community Development and Community Economic Development Programs of the North End Women’s Centre.
The successful candidate will have following qualifications, experience and skills:
- Post-secondary degree or certificate in the social services, administration, or business fields
- Experience in retail and/or social enterprise management with a demonstrated knowledge of communications and marketing strategies
- Minimum 2 years experience supervising staff and/or volunteers
- Demonstrated ability to develop and implement employment and/or volunteer programs for women facing multiple barriers
- Knowledge of, and experience working with, Aboriginal people particularly in terms of the historical context, traditions, teachings as well as the unique barriers Aboriginal women face
- Knowledge of the impacts of poverty, addictions, violence, and dependency on women
- Knowledge of the Community Economic Development principles and the resources available to women in the North End
- Strong time management, organizational, decision making, and problem solving skills
- Extensive computer skills with a proficiency in Microsoft Office and knowledge of social media and website development/maintenance
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
- Research, proposal writing, and report writing skills an asset
- Fundraising and event planning experience an asset
Job Status: | Permanent, Full Time - 37.5 hours a week (Monday to Friday 8:30 – 4:30) |
Salary Range: | $ 42,900 – $ 48,750 (dependent on qualifications and experience) |
