Position Summary
Under the direction of the Director of Marketing and Communications and in collaboration with the Communications Specialist, the Outreach Coordinator is responsible for developing, implementing, maintaining and coordinating targeted outreach activities and initiatives.
The Coordinator will frequently and consistently be in contact and represent Fairtrade Canada with their key B2C stakeholder groups including civil society organizations and consumer groups to uncover opportunities for networking, promotions, or support.
Responsibilities
- Engage with Fair Trade Town and Fair Trade Campus Programs to broaden reach and amplify efforts;
- Assist in the development and expansion of new Fairtrade Programs;
- Forming and managing relationships with fair trade communities, volunteers, and stakeholder groups;
- Developing and distributing innovative education and engagement materials to stimulate involvement in targeted activities;
- Assistance with various marketing activities and promotions;
- Monitoring and reporting on the effectiveness of outreach campaigns and providing documented insight for adjusting campaigns as necessary;
- Assist in the coordination of trade shows, collaborative events, conferences, sponsorships and speaking opportunities; represent Fairtrade Canada, as appropriate;
- Responsible for the coordination of advertising, both print and digital;
- Perform market research on fair trade industry, market trends, consumer segmentation, etc.;
- Oversee communication with licensees to encourage participation in events including the donations of samples;
- Develop, implement, and coordinate a yearly Community Outreach plan;
- Coordinate outreach events to mobilize and motivate CSOs and other key stakeholders;
- Develop partnerships both external and internal for community outreach purposes;
- Recruit and train suitable volunteers; maintain and coordinate schedules to ensure continuity and on-going support;
- Participate in the management of key promotional Fairtrade events throughout the year including Awards, Campus Week and Fairtrade Month;
- Speak in the community to inform and educate on the Fairtrade system and the fair trade movement;
- Responsible for CRM management, maintenance and integrity of B2C and Program records;
- Carry out additional assignments as required by the Director of Marketing & Communications, and the Executive Director.
Qualifications Required
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience preferably in the not-for-profit or association sector in marketing, customer service, sales or outreach;
- Excellent (fluent) writing, communication, and presentation skills in English and French. Spanish an asset;
- Strong computer skills including excellent internet capabilities. Knowledge of design software (InDesign, Photoshop) and web platform Sitecore an asset;
- Preferred knowledge of fair trade issues, community organizing, and activism
- Experience in public speaking
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
- A team player attitude
- Excellent relationship management skills and positive, outgoing personality
- The ability to manage a fast-paced work load and prioritize multiple tasks and deadlines while still maintaining a high level of organization and attention to detail
- May need to be available on evenings and weekends
- Ability to travel frequently to designation ceremonies, conferences and events and transport materials when necessary
