The HiVE is a nonprofit social enterprise that operates a 9,000squarefoot office space located at 128 West Hastings Street in downtown Vancouver. Our mission is to catalyze a community of changemakers by actively hosting a coworking and event space and by fostering a culture of innovation and collaboration within this diverse community.
This position is responsible for marketing the HiVE, recruiting new members and selling desks, and cultivating partnerships with other organizations.This position also oversees all HiVE events, including managing event staff, and liaises with event clients.
This is a parttime (20 hours per week) position, including some evenings and weekends. Most work takes place onsite at the HiVE, with some offsite work that may include attending events or meetings in the Vancouver area.
Duties:
Marketing
- Recruits new members and sells desk space
- Performs market research and develops and executes marketing plans
- Gives tours of the HiVE
- Works to finalize deals with interested parties
- Responds to media inquiries
- Reports to and works closely with the board marketing committee
Events
- Oversees the work and scheduling of events staff and contractors
- Handles all event bookings
- Ensures that event clients meet all HiVE requirements
- Works with the GM to plan and execute HiVE events such as open houses and holiday parties
- When it synchronizes with other duties, occasionally performs the role of event staff
Website and social media
- Updates website and social media
- Engages with members on social media
- Updates the website event calendar
Business development
Ensures continuous development and cultivation of partnerships and relationships with key stakeholders including the changemaker community, both profit and nonprofit, the City of Vancouver and the neighbouring Downtown East Side community.
- Represents the HiVE in the community, actively pursuing promotional opportunities for the HiVE that are aligned with the mandate of the organization.
- Engages in business development planning
Qualifications:
- Experience with event planning, marketing or sales
- Experience with social media across various platforms
- Experience working with notforprofit organizations and volunteers
- Outgoing, social and energetic
- Familiar with the Vancouver nonprofit, social enterprise or Downtown East Side communities, preferably with a wide professional network
- Alignment with the vision and mission of the HiVE
- Ability to give and take direction
- Ability to work with little supervision
- Comfortable with openoffice layout
- Highly organized

Hours: 20 per week, including evenings and weekends
Salary: $18 per hour plus a HiVE unlimited hotdesk package (value $349/month) and incentive bonuses for filling desks
