Founded in 1978, Green Calgary is a leading urban environmental non profit charitable organization supporting Calgarians in living a more sustainable life; helping them take effective environmental action in their homes, work places, schools, and communities.
 
Based in Calgary and reporting to the Green Calgary Executive Director, you will be responsible for planning, managing and supporting resource development for Green Calgary as well as providing support for business development initiatives directly related to Green Calgary programming.
 
As an ideal candidate, you will have a demonstrated passion for the environment and for fostering sustainability. You share this passion in the relationships you build – whether it’s with organizations, corporate sponsors, individual donors, government funders or other non profits. You are a great communicator with a love for fund development and a demonstrated knowledge in coordinating major gifts, grants, and corporate sponsorship programs.  Ideally, you would also have skill in developing business relationships that could help enhance our fee for service revenues as well. A natural organizer and multi-tasker, you thrive in a fast paced, non profit environment where collaboration, flexibility, and being a self starter are an absolute necessity.

Reporting to, and in consultation with the Executive Director, you will be responsible for:

  • Developing a fund development strategy that includes philanthropic, corporate sponsorship and grant elements to fund Green Calgary’s programs;
  • Cultivating and managing relationships with existing or potential granting bodies, donors, sponsors, partners, and supporters;
  • Researching and writing grant proposals and reports;
  • Developing and coordinating donor and sponsor recognition programs;
  • Updating and tracking all fund development activity through the ACT! database;
  • Coordinating fundraising activities and events;
  • Providing support to staff and volunteers in building a fund development culture;
  • Other duties related to, and or complementary, to those listed above;

Your skills and qualifications include:

  • Min. 3 years in a fund development, fundraising and/or community investment;
  • Experience in coordinating donor and corporate sponsorship campaigns;
  • Experience in financial accountability & grant reporting;
  • Strong interpersonal skills, with a strategic approach that doesn’t miss the details;
  • Innovative thinker, entrepreneurial self starter with good project management skills;
  • Understanding of privacy legislation and the ability to conduct business in accordance with CFRE/AFP/CAGP code of ethics;
  • Existing relationships with local media and potential donors would be considered an asset;
  • CFRE designation or equivalent would be an asset.
