Mosaic – Newcomer Family Resource Network is a not for profit agency assisting in the settlement of newcomers to Winnipeg by providing English language programmes that include child care for pre-school aged children

Job Overview:

The Assistant Childcare Worker is responsible for assisting in the planning and implementation of an age appropriate program for children aged 19 months – 5 years in an on-site, license not required setting while parents attend English as an Additional Language class

Role and Responsibilities:

• Prepare the room before the children arrive and secure everything before leaving
• Interact directly with the children in playing, singing, reading, exercising, crafts
• Create an environment that fosters positive self-concept and reflects the cultural diversity of the children
• Work with the other staff members to plan and implement activities which will support and encourage English language learning while valuing and maintaining the first language

Qualifications:

• Child Care Assistant Certificate preferred
• Valid First Aid Certificate – Level B CPR
• Valid Criminal Record Check
• Some experience and formal training in child care
• Strong interpersonal and organizational skills
• Experience working with newcomer non English speaking children
• Knowledge of a language other than English an asset

Job Details:

Location: 465 Stafford Street
Schedule: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday 9:00 – 11:30 (10 hours per week + .5 hour meeting time per week)
Available: Immediately
Hourly Rate: $12.36 to start
