Project Assistant, Halifax Consultant - Evergreen

Overview:  This Halifax position is an opportunity for a motivated individual to assist with the outreach, planning and implementation of 100in1Day Halifax – a one day festival of citizen-driven action on June 6, 2015. S/he will also work closely with Evergreen staff in the Toronto office.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the development and execution of Halifax festival, including workshops, citizen engagement efforts, launch event, and outreach as assigned
  • Help build relationships with external parties to collaborate on the planning and delivery of selected projects
  • Provide Communications team with project information as required; support the development of promotional materials
  • Coordinate media outreach and publicity
  • Monitor the 100in1Day email account and respond to inquires
  • Develop systems for tracking project deliverables and outcomes
  • Track expenses and manage project budgets 
  • Support program fundraising, including contributions to grant proposals and reports
  • Represent Evergreen and 100in1Day at public events
  • Train and supervise volunteers as required

Qualifications:

  • 2 years post-secondary education or equivalent relevant experience
  • Proven organizational skills and ability to put ideas into action
  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written; active user of social media
  • Experience facilitating workshops and outreach activities to diverse audiences
  • Experience working with volunteers
  • Computer literacy and fluency with Microsoft Office required
  • Familiarity with Evergreen’s work and mission an asset
  • Valid drivers’ license an asset

Working conditions:

  • Generally working 16 hours a week from home with some evening and weekend work.
  • Ability to travel throughout the HRM

Terms: This is a part-time consultant position; January 2015 to June 30th 2015.
