The Municipality of the County of Cumberland is a progressive municipal government located in northwestern Nova Scotia. Bordered by the Province of New Brunswick to the north, Cumberland County contains the only land entry points to the Province of Nova Scotia. Our current staff of thirty-two serves a population of about 16,000 people residing in a geographic area only slightly smaller than the Province of Prince Edward Island. During summer months our population swells with thousands of people enjoying recreational properties and attractions on our Northumberland Strait and Bay of Fundy shorelines.
The Municipality has an immediate opening for the full-time position of Community Economic Development Coordinator. This is a support and resource position with the primary responsibilities of implementing, monitoring, and evaluating strategic community development initiatives within the Municipality of the County of Cumberland. This position will provide support to existing community economic development activities and create a climate that will foster new opportunities and sustainable economic growth. This position will work in cooperation and consultation with a wide range of stakeholders and organizations within the community.
Qualified applicants will have a university degree in Business, Marketing, Community/Economic Development or Community Studies, as well as having excellent communication, teamwork, interpersonal and organizational skills. A Certificate in Economic Development (CED) and experience working in a municipal environment will be considered assets.
