Position: 1 year Internship, with potential to be hired permanently thereafter
Start Date: March 16th 2015 (pending funding approval)
Hours: 30 to 40 hours per week
Salary: $31,200 annually, potential bonuses
Reporting to the Executive Director, this position will implement engagement organizing strategies for the environmental community through the online platform NationBuilder. The successful candidate will be working with a team and receive training from reThink Green, consultants and NationBuilder staff. You are passionate about website development and delivering hands on training. You an energetic team player and an innovative self-starter with a passion for the environment. You are ideally an active participant in the local community.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
- Work with the NationBuilder platform to set up a central database as well as sub-databases for participating member groups.
- Migrate content from existing websites into NationBuilder and/or integrate NationBuilder functionality into existing websites.
- Consult closely with members to assess their individual NationBuilder needs that will support their engagement organizing priorities.
- Train participating groups and volunteers to use their database and independently update website, social media and communications content.
- Provide troubleshooting and technical support online, over the phone and/or in person.
- Assist in encouraging innovation and collaboration between the member groups.
- Assist in tracking metrics and monitoring the impact of the project.
- Assist in strengthening relationships with current and potential reThink Green members.
- Education and Experience
Northern Ontario secondary school graduates 29 years of age or under who recently graduated from an accredited college or university. Graduates from a high school outside of Northern Ontario who have resided in the North for at least one year are also eligible. Mature graduates may be considered.
- A college or university degree, preferably in computer engineering or programming.
- Experience in web development, preferably on several different platforms, and social media technologies.
- Experience in delivering hands-on training preferably to adults and professionals and in the computer field.
- Experience in working in a customer service environment preferably in a computer or telecommunications helpdesk context.
- Experience organizing events, working with Customer Relationship Management (CRM) software, working within a non-profit organization, and basic understanding of statistics are assets.

- Leadership Skills: Ability to plan, strategize, set goals, develop work plans, work efficiently and track progress. Strong ability to work independently. Ability to assist with multiple projects and to explore new ideas and create new opportunities within the context of the project. Ability to make decisions and resolve problems.
- Communication Skills: Excellent communication skills (oral and written); ability to deliver presentations, seminars and educational workshops; bilingualism is a significant asset.
- Interpersonal Skills: Establish and maintain positive working relationships both internally and externally. Anticipate, understand, and respond to the needs of clients to meet or exceed their expectations. Work cooperatively and effectively with others to set goals, resolve problems, and make decisions.
- Adaptability: Demonstrate a willingness to be flexible, versatile and adapt to a changing work environment while maintaining effectiveness and efficiency. Ability to learn new technologies and master new skills.
- Environmental Knowledge: Current knowledge of key environmental issues. Continued interest in learning and expanding knowledge of the Greater Sudbury environmental community.
