Community Involvement Manager

We are seeking a Community Involvement Manager to join our team. In this role, the successful candidate will work primarily with the Winnipeg Poverty Reduction Council (WPRC) supporting community initiatives identified by WPRC and assisting with the implementation of the WPRC’s agenda and actions.

Responsibilities:

In addition to providing administrative and other leadership support to the work of WPRC, which will include the facilitation of communication with various stakeholders, the Community Involvement Manager will:

  • Work with volunteer and staff teams and support project management, research, and evaluation, and organize WPRC events, including the logistics, speakers, and volunteers
  • Assist in the marketing and promotion of various initiatives and strategies, both internally and externally
  • Participate in the planning and ongoing evaluation of initiatives and strategies
  • Conduct secondary research on a variety of issues related to poverty reduction
  • Support WPRC working groups and committees

Qualifications:

You possess energy and enthusiasm, an ability to think broadly and address details, strong communication and writing skills, and a commitment to strengthening our city. You also have:

  • A relevant post-secondary degree
  • Two to three years of experience, ideally in a community development capacity in a non- profit environment
  • Experience with program management and coordination, poverty related issues, and research and evaluation
  • Strong project management skills; demonstrated ability to organize and implement plans and manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills including strong report writing, ability to facilitate discussions, and experience presenting to small and large groups
  • Strong working knowledge of Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience working in a cross-sectoral approach
  • Experience with action research and program development
  • Knowledge of equity perspectives
  • Cultural competency
  • Awareness of community-based work and business practices
