Introduction to the Role
MaRS is home to the largest live and online entrepreneurship education programs in Canada including our flagship Entrepreneurship 101 program. As part of our program offerings, we deliver a suite of experiential workshops to help early stage technology and social innovation entrepreneurs with marketing communications, B2B sales processes, pitching, customer development, and business models in a small group setting (www.marsdd.com/workshops). Each year we deliver more than one hundred workshops to thousands of entrepreneurs at 14 locations around the province. In this role, you’ll have the opportunity to support the growth of small business in Ontario with the latest thinking in entrepreneurship education and the expansion of our growing program to both new and existing partner organizations in Ontario. General Description and Accountability
Responsible for supporting the planning and logistical delivery of high quality client and community advanced entrepreneurship education programs at MaRS and across the Ontario Network of Entrepreneurs (ONE) and providing administrative and marketing support to the Manager, Entrepreneurship Programs.
Key Job Responsibilities
As part of the MaRS Entrepreneurship Programs team, the Associate supports the planning, logistics, marketing and logistical delivery of the six Entrepreneur’s Toolkit Workshop series at MaRS and at our partners around the province.
Specific responsibilities:
- Managing an annual calendar of workshops including the organization and delivery of multiple workshops per month across the province; current series include Starting Lean: Value Proposition, Starting Lean: Business Model Canvas, Finance Fundamentals, Pitching to Investors, The MarCom Toolkit, The B2B Sales Process as well as a variety advanced workshops for more developed businesses.
- Coordinating and communicating with contacts in the ONE network to book workshops and confirm all event logistics
- Communicating with contacts, advisors and clients in the ONE network on questions related to the workshops
- Surveying attendees after each workshop and reporting on programs monthly and annually
- Updating the corporate Salesforce.com database with event attendee information to ensure MaRS’ centralized database is accurate and up-to-date
- Attending industry events and conferences to market our program and build relationships
- Supporting the Manager in producing short-term and long-term marketing plans for local, provincial and national marketing, monitoring and reporting on the success of various campaigns
- Supporting the Manager in the development of marketing materials to promote the programs
- Integrating MaRS’ online educational resources such as articles, videos or workbooks from the Entrepreneur’s Toolkit (www.marsdd.com/toolkit) into workshops where relevant
- Responsible for other administrative duties agreed upon from time to time to support the Entrepreneurship Programs team.

Educational/Technical Requirements
- University or college degree; communications or business study an asset
- 1-3 years work experience; client-facing experience an asset
- Experience working with Salesforce, Eventbrite, MailChimp (or similar) and/or various social media platforms such as Twitter, LinkedIn, Facebook
- Proficient in MS Office applications; ability to learn and use software programs (i.e. Salesforce.com, Adobe Creative Suite, JIVE)
Personal Requirements
- Excellent organizational and time management skills
- Highly attentive to details; accurate data entry skills
- Collaborative team player who thrives on coordinating and interacting with multiple people and on multiple projects and who is able to manage shifting priorities
- Strong communication (both written and verbal) skills required
- Interested in entrepreneurship and startups; passionate about business
- Ability to take initiative and work independently with minimal supervision, but also collaboratively with staff and partner institutions.
