The Town of Shelburne is seeking an experienced professional for the position of Manager of Community & Economic Development (CED).

Reporting to the Chief Administrative Officer, the Manager of Community & Economic Development is responsible for the overall management and direction of the Town’s economic development efforts. The Manager will work with Council on the development of a strategic economic development plan, as well as overseeing the consolidation and updating of the Town’s aging Municipal Planning Strategy and Land-Use By-Law to support economic development in our community. The Manager will also oversee Department staff, including the Tourism & Events Coordinator and Visitor Information Centre Manager.

Upon appointment by the Town Council, the CED Manager will perform the duties of Development Officer for the Town as required under the Municipal Government Act.

The preferred candidate will hold post-secondary qualifications in commerce, planning or a related discipline plus a minimum of two to five years relevant experience in economic development and/or planning. Position requirements include familiarity with land-use planning, general government administration, business planning/development and marketing and/or market research. The successful candidate should also possess strong interpersonal and excellent communication skills; specific knowledge of approaches to public participation and experience overseeing public participation processes will be considered an asset.
