About SauderS3i
The Centre for Social Innovation & Impact Investing (Sauder S3i) is focused on leveraging business tools to advance social innovation and impact investing, through research, incubation, and application. Sauder S3i defines social innovation as a new approach which fosters initiatives that contribute to solving existing social, cultural, economic, political, and environmental challenges. This encompasses concepts such as social ventures, social finance, and strategic corporate social responsibility. What it does not involve is simply throwing money at a problem. Rather, Sauder S3i aims to build institutions designed to create value rather than dependency.
Our goal is to build intellectual and human capacity by linking knowledge with action through invention, acceleration, and investment of viable entities to further the field of social innovation and impact investing. We are just as passionate about student development and action oriented research, as we are about creating useful resources, plans and capacity for our partner communities and organizations.
About the position:
The role will lead on creating several communication assets at Sauder S3i and CCS iHub, specifically looking at created short narratives of our Coast Capital Savings Innovation Hub social ventures and communication assets for Sauder S3is’ large scale projects like Impact Investing and LMP- Social Enterprise. This role will also support the digital production of weekly newsletters and perform all website updates for the Centre. (Training to use our website and newsletter tools will be provided).
Our summer intern will work out of our downtown Vancouver co-working space at the Coast Capital Savings Innovation Hub, and will report to and be supported by Director of Social Innovation, Joanna Buczkowska-McCumber. Working at the CCS Innovation Hub is an opportunity to be part of a dynamic and entrepreneurial environment and to learn from other interns and social entrepreneurs.
Scope of internship:
The primary scope of the internship is to develop and support communication efforts at SauderS3i and CCS iHub. Specific tasks performed will include:
- Developing specific communication assets for Sauder S3i including video, blog, and social media campaign ideas
- Developing video narratives of CCS iHub social ventures (current and alumni)
- Social media planning
- Newsletter production and dissemination
- Website content updates and new page creation
Desired skills & experience:
We are seeking an intern who:
- Has a background in communication and marketing
- Interest and history of creating engaging videos
- Demonstrates a high level of self-motivation, responsibility, and organization
- Has creative flair and possibly some experience in graphic design
- Enjoy working with a diverse group of individuals, and the start up community
- Possesses excellent communication skills
- Wants to learn and try new things
- Enjoys and believes in the value of social impact
