What are we looking for?
A creative and energetic communicator who has experience engaging nonprofit organizations across Ontario. The Communications Coordinator will enjoy creating plain language content using innovative tools to share roadly. The successful candidate will enjoy working with a small team in a “get stuff done” environment, and will have a passion to support Ontario’s nonprofits and charities.
What will the Communications Coordinator do?
Working with a Project Facilitator, ONN staff and an advisory group, the Communications Coordinator will be responsible for communications coordination, content development and administration for a 12 month provincial project. The focus of this project is to share information about the Ontario Government’s Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA) and help nonprofits and charities better understand and operate under the Act. As a member of ONN’s communications team, this will include:
- Creating and executing a communications strategy
- Developing communications content for various platforms including e-blasts, websites and other social media
- Capturing metrics and doing ongoing analysis of outreach
- Supporting the development of curriculum
- Helping to create and distribute two surveys and analyze data received
- Coordinating webinars and other events
- Connecting to other networks, organizations and projects and growing ONN’s subscribers
Required Qualifications
- Post secondary education in public relations, communications or a related field, or equivalent experience
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Experience using online communication platforms (social media, websites, content management systems)
- Project and event coordination experience and ability to plan and carry out complex assignments within tight deadlines
- Design skills an asset for this role!
Job Specifications
- 1 year, part-time contract position – 3 days/ week
- Based on annual salary of $40,000 (pro-rated to 3 days/week)
- Office based in Toronto, Ontario
