Gardening and Site Steward

The Harvest Moon Society is seeking an enthusiastic and hardworking part time Gardening and Site Steward in Clearwater this summer.

Responsibilities

  • Work with the Ecological Gardening Intern to maintain the garden plots and infrastructure
  • Mow the grounds of the Harvest Moon Learning Centre
  • Control weeds and perform other general outdoor site maintenance
  • Assist with planning the logistics for the New Moon Kids Camp
  • Help develop and lead educational activities centred around the garden
  • Mow, weed and maintain the Lessons From the Land interpretive nature trail

Qualifications

  • Passionate about gardening and local food systems
  • Experience working with children and youth
  • Ability to work outdoors and do physical labour
  • Comfortable using lawn care machines and equipment
  • Experience growing vegetables or working on a farm
  • Willingness to learn and master new skills

Important Information

  • Must be between 15 and 29 years old
  • Must pass a criminal record check and child abuse registry check
  • The employee will work 16 – 24 hours/week at $10.70/hour
  • This a 12 week term position from the beginning of June until the end of August
