The Canadian CED Network is inviting applications for a Communications Assistant based out of our office in Toronto, Ontario. The Communications Assistant will provide support for the development and implementation of CCEDNet’s communications objectives.
ABOUT THE CANADIAN CED NETWORK
The Canadian CED Network (CCEDNet) is a values-based, non-profit organization committed to strengthening the social, economic, and environmental conditions of Canadian communities. We have several hundred members throughout Canada working at the grassroots level in rural, urban, Aboriginal and northern settings. Offering an inclusive learning environment for staff and members, the Network seeks to create opportunities for young people to develop their skills and leadership in building sustainable communities.
DUTIES
- Assisting the Communications Manager in executing the organization’s overall communications plan through multiple virtual platforms and communications products
- Preparing national newsletters and additional regional bulletins with Network updates, member profiles, relevant reports and tools, job postings, learning and other events, and other content that build the capacity of members
- Populating and appropriately developing website and social media content in an organized, current, and easy to use manner
- Developing tools and conducting analyses to evaluate the use of communications products.
- Assisting in the development, design, writing, editing, and publishing of organizational publication and promotional materials
- Managing media relations and identifying and responding to media engagement opportunities for the Network
- Event coordination and logistics as needed
- Other related duties as they arise
QUALIFICATIONS
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English; bilingualism (English/French) an asset
- Post-secondary college or university degree in a related field
- Knowledge of web-based communication tools. Experience with Drupal, social media, online e-newsletter services an asset
- Proficient in all Microsoft office programs, internet and email
- Detail-oriented, independent, professional, analytical and a self-starter
- Experience, training or expressed interest in community economic development (CED) and/or social enterprise
ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS
- Between the ages of 15 and 30;
- Post-secondary education graduate;
- Out of school;
- Not in receipt of Employment Insurance benefits;
- Canadian citizen, permanent resident or persons who have been granted refugee status in Canada;
- Legally entitled to work in Canada.
