Pay Scale: $25.248 - $29.703/hour
Job Summary
- Supports the ongoing work of the Youth Entrepreneurship Networking Group of Ottawa (YENGO) by coordinating the planning, implementation and evaluation of projects and tasks as determined by the YENGO steering committee.
- Participates in building the YENGO’s capacity to respond to emerging issues and opportunities.
- Supports the YENGO in providing seamless entrepreneurship programs and services to youth in the Ottawa area.
- Enables the YENGO to operate as a sustainable system that expands the spirit of entrepreneurship and the infrastructure of support for youth entrepreneurs in Ottawa.
Job Specific Responsibilities
1. Administration and Human Resources
- Prepare meeting agendas and logistics in collaboration with the members of the YENGO steering committee.
- Send out notices, take and disseminate minutes.
- Organize and retain relevant documents which define the historical memory of the Network.
- Maintain mentor database and social media accounts, updating information regarding programs and services, job postings, and other content as needed.
- Plan and organize the work of accepted volunteers and/or students as appropriate.
2.Project Coordination
Working in close collaboration with the YENGO steering committee and appropriate consultants:
- draft organizational tools and materials related to the governance structure of the Network, including but not limited to: a strategic plan, annual work plan, MOU, marketing strategy and sustainability plan.
- establish a common database of entrepreneur mentors
- create a logo, social media accounts and other promotional materials/tools as per marketing strategy
- coordinate a collaborative launch of the Network as per marketing strategy
- research best practices related to client referral and follow up, and develop common tools and processes for client referral and follow up based on these best practices.
Qualifications
1. Education
- Post secondary education in commerce, social sciences, public administration or a related field.
2. Professional Experience
- 2-3 years experience in community-based or not-for-profit sector.
- 2-3 years experience in project management, PMI or other project management certification would be an asset.
3. Key Competencies
- Demonstrated experience in project management; proven ability to meet project deliverables, on time and within budget.
- Knowledge of and experience working with multiple stakeholders on collaborative projects.
- Knowledge of/interest in and experience with entrepreneurship.
- Knowledge of/interest in and experience with programming for youth.
- Experience negotiating contracts and managing the work of consultants hired for IT, graphic design, marketing and/or facilitation services.
- Grant-writing experience would be an asset.
- Understanding of social innovation and/or sustainability and/or social enterprise an asset.
4. Linguistic Profile (for Centres with French Language Service Designations)
- Under the Centre’s designation to provide French Language Services.
- Based on New Avenues Linguistics Rating Scale: A+ (highest skill) to C - (lowest skill)
- French (oral expression): A (an asset)
- French (oral comprehension): A+ (an asset)
- French (reading comprehension): A+ (an asset)
- French (written expression): A (an asset)
- Other languages an asset.
5. Personal Suitability/Other Requirements
- Strong interpersonal and problem solving skills.
- Strong networking skills, outgoing personality.
- Able and willing to work independently, self-motivated.
- Excellent organizational skills.
- Proficient in the use of computers as well as general office and administrative procedures.
- Experience with information technology usage, including website and database management and social media
- Willing to travel within Ottawa.
- Interest in accessing learning and networking opportunities through a wide network of youth-serving entrepreneurship programs/agencies.
