Job Summary: The Education Manager is a catalyst for leadership, education, development and meaningful involvement in Ontario’s co‐operatives and credit unions. The Education Manager is responsible for developing, delivering and evaluating co‐operatively‐themed educational curriculum and programming province‐wide.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

  •  Develop, implement and monitor education and engagementstrategiesthat promote and support the objectives and activities contained within the Ontario Co‐operative Association’s Balanced Scorecard.
  •  Supervise the All 4 Each Director and oversee the ongoing development of the All 4 Each project. All 4 Each increases awareness of the co‐operative model within the education system, and connects co‐operatives with schools and the community.
  •  Manage, enrich and evaluate the Co‐operative Young Leaders program while effectively managing risk. CYL provides co‐op awareness, leadership and communication skillsto engage and educate youth participants and adult volunteersthrough residentialsummer camps and ongoing interactions with co‐operatives and co‐op leaders.
  •  Manage, enrich and evaluate the Co‐operative Management Certificate program. CMC provides co‐operative skills and operational knowledge to adultsin a post‐secondary setting.  
  •  Partner with Members, co‐operatives and stakeholdersto develop and implement meaningful youth engagementstrategies and opportunities.  
  •  Curate existing co‐operative research data and facilitate the expansion of Ontario‐specific co‐operative research.

Additional Duties and Responsibilities:

  •  Develop and manage program budgets and workplans, with milestones and reporting timelines.
  •  Develop and update policies and procedures, while managing risk.  
  •  Identify and execute fee‐for‐service opportunitiesin education and professional development.
  •  Develop and deliver presentations and training sessions on engagement, education and professional development to Members, partners, co‐operatives,stakeholders and others.
  •  Recruit, hire, train,supervise and evaluate staff and volunteers asrequired.  
  •  Support the development of post‐secondary co‐operative education opportunities, and collaborate with educators and the community to expand existing co‐operative education programming.
  •  Develop and submit funding proposalsfor education and engagement programming.
  •  Collaborate with the Communication and Events Manager to create and implement a communication and marketing plan for education programming.
  •  Collaborate with On Co‐op staff to develop strategiesthat create synergies between education programming, youth engagement, and other organizational activities and programs.
  •  Support and promote a strong staff team culture and participate in staff meetings, and organizational and sectoral events.

Education and Experience:

  •  Post‐secondary education related to education,social or community development with three years minimum experience, or five yearsrelated work experience in youth or adult engagement or program development.
  •  Experience in project or program design, development, implementation and evaluation.
  •  Knowledge of educational theory and techniques, consistent with contemporary learning needs a strong asset.
  •  Very strong oral and written communication skills.
  •  Very strong interpersonal, facilitation and presentation skills.
  •  Strong administrative and organizational skills.
  •  Strong problem solving and conflict managementskills.
  •  Proven supervisory and leadership skills.
  •  Ability to work independently and also in a team environment.
  •  Proficiency in utilizing social media and Microsoftsoftware.
  •  A sound knowledge of co‐operatives, and/or experience in a non‐profit or membership‐based environment isrequired.
  •  Familiarity with CYL and All 4 Each programs a strong asset.
  •  Experience in drafting funding proposals and grant management an asset.   

Working Conditions:

  •  Work is primarily conducted at the On Co‐op officesin Guelph, Ontario.
  •  Participation in off‐site events will be required.
  •  Out‐of‐town travel, generally within the province, isrequired.
  •  Overnight travel and/or evening and weekend work will be occasionally required.
  •  Managing the CYL program will involve weekend work and occasional residentialstays during the summer months.  
  •  Salary range $45,000 ‐ $60,000. Further details will be included in the employment contract.
