Opportunities for Employment (OFE) is a private, faith-based, non-profit organization. Their mission is to assist adults to achieve self-sufficiency through full-time, long-term employment. They are currently recruiting for the following position in our growing organization:
Employment Consultant, Mature Worker Program
Project: Employment Assistance Services, Mature Worker Program
EFT: 1.0 (Monday to Friday 37.5 hours/week)
Start Date: Early November
Overview
In a fast-paced, goal-oriented environment that positively impacts thousands of lives per year, the successful applicant will work with individuals one-on-one by:
- Assisting clients aged 50+
- Evaluating assets and barriers to employment through assessment interviews
- Assisting clients with job readiness skills, job search strategies, writing résumés and preparing for job interviews
- Promoting appropriate workshops and programming to job seekers
- Building relationships with employers to source labour market information and specific job leads
- Developing and maintaining relationships with employers, Career Development Consultants at Training and Employment Services, and community agencies
- Case management and data management for a caseload of job seekers
- Providing effective follow-up services
- Developing and facilitating various workshops, keeping curriculum updated
- Networking with key stakeholders in the community serving Mature Workers
Necessary qualifications
- Post-secondary education in a related field or the equivalent in experience (experience providing employment services would be preferred)
- Knowledge of local labour market trends and an existing network of employers is preferred
- Experience in facilitation and curriculum development
- Well-developed case management skills
- In-depth knowledge of job searching techniques; experience in developing professional resumes and cover letters
- Solid understanding of barriers to employment
- Experience working with individuals from diverse cultures
- Working knowledge of community resources providing services to low-income and multi-barrier clients
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and database use
- Strong desire to work in a team environment
- Exceptional communication skills, both oral and written
- Excellent problem-solving skills and strong planning and organizational skills
- Knowledge of the Stages of Change Model and Motivational Interviewing is an asset
- Valid driver’s license and vehicle available for work use is an asset
