The Community Connector is responsible for the management and operations of the organization according to the stated mandate and the strategic direction set by the Board of Directors during this one-year maternaty leave contract.

The Westmorland Albert Community Inclusion Network Co-op helps bring together stakeholders from community, government, non-profit, and private sectors to work together on initiatives that address the root causes of poverty. The CIN’s role is to raise awareness, build on community assets, share resources and best practices, encourage networking and collaboration, facilitate community dialogue, build community capacity and provide financial and other support for initiatives consistent with regional priorities.

Responsibilities

  • Support the CIN Board of Directors and Committees; implement the decisions of the Board
  • Facilitate collaborative strategic planning processes to establish regional plan/priorities; monitor and report on progress
  • Establish and grow a multi-sector network to work together to help promote economic and social inclusion; share resources and promising practices
  • Facilitate community conversations; cultivate interest groups to effect change; encourage networking and collaboration
  • Work with partners and interest groups to develop strong initiatives that build on community assets and align with regional and provincial poverty reduction priorities
  • Manage grant administration processes; provide support to partners on grant applications and reporting
  • Source, analyze and summarize information from a variety of sources and prepare reports and recommendations
  • Monitor and supervise the financial management of the organization
  • Help build capacity within organizations and communities to support poverty reduction efforts
  • Maintain relationships with funding agencies and sponsors; meet reporting requirements
  • Identify opportunities for funding and develop grant applications
  • Communicate with and manage staff, contractors, and partner projects

Qualifications

Education: College Degree
Language: English, French

Skills

  • Comfortable with working flexible and non-traditional hours; 
  • Excellent organizational skills; 
  • Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel within region and province; 
  • Experience of non-profit governance and working with Boards; 
  • Ability to work independently and exercise independent judgement; 
  • Ability to multi-task in accordance with changing deadlines and priorities; 
  • Ability to lead complex projects and a diverse team and to work effectively with government, business, non-profit and community 
  • Proven facilitation skills; 
  • Exceptional relationship management skills;
