Founded in 2016 as a result of a two-year research project, Co-operatives First aims to facilitate robust co-operative development in rural and First Nation/Metis/Inuit communities by promoting innovation at the community level, and connecting the key players involved in co-operative, business and community development.
Reporting to the Board of Directors, the Executive Director (ED) will have overall strategic and operational responsibility both for the execution of the organization's mission, and management of staff, programs, and organization growth. As the organization is in its development phase, the development of core programs, operations, and business plans will be required as well as deep knowledge of co-operatives and co-operative development. The successful candidate will be in a unique position to help build an organization from the ground up, supported by guaranteed seed money and in-depth research results.

The ED will be thoroughly committed to the mission of Co-operatives First. All candidates should have a deep understanding of rural and Aboriginal communities, experience in the co-operative sector, proven leadership, coaching, and relationship management experience.
Co-operatives First is able to offer a competitive compensation package. The ideal candidate will be able to work from Saskatoon during the creation and establishment stages of the organization, but consideration of working outside of Saskatoon may be provided for a preferred candidate.
