Reporting to the Executive Director, this position will be responsible for providing planning and evaluation services that help create healthy sustainable communities.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide planning and evaluation consultation and support
  • Facilitate planning sessions and stakeholder engagement
  • Facilitate implementation of evaluation plans
  • Facilitate training and access to resources
  • Network with organizations and communities to enhance services
  • Encourage an inter-sectoral approach to healthy sustainable communities
  • Support the use of best available evidence for decision making

CORE COMPETENCIES

In addition to relevant post-secondary education, preferably a Master’s degree, and at least 5 years working with community organizations, the position requires specific core competencies.

With respect to PROGRAM PLANNING and EVALUATION SKILLS, the demonstrated ability to:

  • identify and analyze information, within a context, to determine next steps
  • build capacity by sharing knowledge, tools, expertise and experience
  • collaboratively develop and implement community plans, strategic plans and work plans
  • collaboratively evaluate a policy or program
  • use and adapt a variety of methods and tools, including current technology
  • use research findings, research promising practices and locate complementary research

With respect to COMMUNICATION and LEADERSHIP SKILLS, the demonstrated ability to:

  • facilitate in a variety of situations, including meetings and workshops
  • communicate across cultures and sectors
  • create a collaborative and participatory environment
  • write clearly and precisely, including plain language
  • listen, learn and modify approach on the basis of external cues
  • use appropriate methods and tools for communication, including current technology
  • think strategically and ask relevant questions
  • facilitate meaningful community and stakeholder engagement
  • make decisions and problem solve

Demonstrated KNOWLEDGE in the following areas:

  • program planning, implementation and evaluation cycle
  • adult education principles
  • community development
  • determinants of health and illness
  • organizational development
  • strategies for promoting well-being
  • evidence and research to inform healthy public policies and programs
  • planning processes and practices
  • evaluation processes and methods
