Haida Gwaii Community Futures is a community economic development organization enhancing the capacity of islanders to be active participants in building a successful local economy and a resilient islands community. The Business Development Officer promotes building the Islands' entrepreneurial capacity and assists individual clients to develop sound business plans and obtain financing for business and social enterprise start-ups and expansions.

Working with and reporting to the General Manager the position will be responsible for:

  • Connecting with people across the islands to promote innovation and business development and assessing how Community Futures can help
  • Providing counselling, coaching, mentoring, and skills training to clients
  • Assist clients though business planning, accessing loan financing, and start-up
  • Loan document preparation, security registration, and administration
  • Loan application review, analysis and approval
  • Facilitation of skills workshops and public communications
  • Leader in Community Economic Development

Demonstrated skills and experience:

  • Business coaching, counselling and training skills and experience
  • Business and financial analysis
  • Community economic development
  • High proficiency with office and financial software

Other:
Diploma or Degree in Business Administration and/or relevant professional development certificates.
Experience working in First Nation communities is an asset.
Salary is commensurate with experience and education.
