The Manitoba Association of Newcomer Serving Organizations is seeking an Executive Director that supports our Mission and Vision and is prepared to lead our organization through a period of growth and help us capitalize on new opportunities.

Reporting to the Board of Directors, the successful candidate will lead the development and implementation of MANSO’s strategic vision and policies, guide the long term development and financial sustainability of the organization and provide operational leadership. The Executive Director oversees services to member agencies and stakeholders and manages MANSO staff and resources. He/she will work independently and with partners to advocate for policies and programs that strengthen the capacity of our sector to respond to the needs of newcomers.

We are seeking a mature, experienced candidate who has knowledge of Manitoba immigrant settlement programming, provincial and national immigration and settlement policy, and who possesses the following education, skills and experience:

  • Extensive knowledge of and experience in a not-for-profit environment;
  • At least 5 years of senior level management/leadership experience at a similar sized organization;
  • Relevant graduate degree or higher; an equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered;
  • Proven strategic planning skills: demonstrated ability to connect vision, mission and strategic goals and develop the work plan to achieve them;
  • Skills in financial management, human resource planning and non-profit governance;
  • Ability to guide and implement Board policy and decisions;
  • Management of staff and contracted resources;
  • Policy and program analysis;
  • Commitment to promoting positive policy change with local, provincial and national levels of government;
  • Superb communication skills including public speaking at external functions and meetings;
  • Excellent writing ability including funding applications, reports and position papers;
  • Effective relationship management with funders, diverse partners and stakeholders;
  • Proficiency with MS Office Suite of products

Mission: To provide leadership, support and a unified voice for the settlement and integration sector, including core settlement services, language training, employment services, and welcoming communities.

Background: Manitoba English as an Additional Languages Organizations (MEALO) and The Manitoba Immigrant and Refugee Settlement Sector Association (MIRSSA) amalgamated on April 01, 2016, to form a new umbrella organization: The Manitoba Association of Newcomer Serving Organizations (MANSO). MANSO represents 60 member agencies that provide diverse settlement and integration services across Manitoba.

Application details:

This is a full time contract position to March 31st, 2017 with the possibility of extension pending renewal of funding. Salary range $65,000 - $70,000.
