DMSMCA is a non-profit community renewal organization. We work with residents and stakeholders towards social, cultural, economic and environmentally sustainable renewal and revitalization of the Daniel McIntyre / St. Matthews neighbourhoods.

Job Objectives and Responsibilities:

Website Redesign

To redesign our two websites, dmsmca.ca and dmsmri.ca 

Tasks will include:

  • Investigating various free and low cost website building and hosting options (e.g. WIX, WordPress, etc.), including different layouts, ease of ongoing maintenance and updating and general functionality.
  • Deciding on a template/format (in collaboration with other staff).
  • Transferring all the information from our current sites to the new sites.
  • Linking new sites with our other social media sites (e.g. Facebook, etc.).
  • Training other staff on site maintenance and updating.

Outreach Assistant

To assist the Communication and Outreach Coordinator over the summer

Tasks will include:

  • Assist in compiling, writing and editing the summer Front Porch Newsletter and the Fall Our West Central Times Newspaper.
  • Assist in compiling, putting together and publishing our Weekly E-mail Digest newsletter.
  • Assist with networking with various community partners to support our work.

Qualification, Knowledge and Experience:

  • Strong website design knowledge and skills;
  • Good knowledge of desk top publishing /design etc. (posters, flyers, newsletter);
  • Strong computer skills;
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills;
  • Strong organisational skills;
  • Strong collaboration and networking skills;
  • Background in community based planning and community initiatives implementation;
  • Project Management;
  • Ability to work independently;
  • Knowledge and experience in Community Development approaches and practices;
  • Experience working with volunteers;
  • Understanding and appreciation of inner city communities;
  • Ability to work some evenings and weekends.

Assets:

  • Knowledge of the Daniel McIntyre St. Matthews Community (preference given to DM/SM residents);
  • Valid driver’s license and occasional access to a vehicle is an asset but not necessary; and
  • Knowledge of CED principles.

Other Information:

  • Must be between the ages 16-30.

Wage: $11.50 / hour

Hours of Work: Up to 40 hours/week; some evening and weekend hours required. This is a 9-week term position.

Start Date: To start immediately.
