GOAL: As part of the team at Winnipeg Harvest and working in support of and within the agency’s mission, goals, objectives, policies and procedures, the goal of this position is to provide administrative support in seeking long-term solutions to hunger and poverty that will reduce the need for food banks.
REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS: Reports directly to the Director of Client Services and Community Engagement
RESPONSIBILITIES: Working in cooperation and consultation with the Hunger and Poverty Awareness Team, the Communications Team, the Client Services Team, the Volunteer Services Department, and other members of the Winnipeg Harvest Team, the Public Education Administrator is responsible for:
Roles and Responsibilities
- To coordinate Public Education speaking engagements including training and development of speakers
- To provide administrative guidance and support for the Hunger and Poverty Awareness team including the Poverty Representative and Intern, Youth Programs Associate, and the Hunger and Poverty Awareness Manager
- Develop and submit Monthly Reports to the Director of Client Services and Community Relations including information provided by team members
- Assess and evaluate current initiatives and programs within the department and provide recommendations
- To oversee Human Resource requirements for Hunger and Poverty Awareness team including vacation request/sick sheets, performance evaluations, etc.
- Provide guidance and support to the Partnership for Change program, in collaboration with the Youth Programs Associate
- Administrative support, including hospitality, meeting reminders and minutes of committees supported by Winnipeg Harvest
- Deliver Oppression Workshop to internal and external audiences
- Provide and be available for public speaking engagements, including media relations as requested
- Invest in internal values and Root Beliefs
- To network with Client Services, Communications and Volunteer Services departments, and other departments as required
- Provide support and delivery on other duties as assigned
- Mentorship of volunteers, staff and interns as required
QUALIFICATIONS:
- A strong belief in the dignity of all humans and a caring and positive attitude
- Ability to work as a team member in a variety of situations
- Excellent interpersonal, written and oral communications skills
- Strong organizational and supervisory skills, including administrative attributes
- Excellent multi-tasking and time management skills
- Experience with public speaking and program delivery
- Keen awareness and interest in hunger and poverty awareness issues
- Post-Secondary education
- Management experience (3-5 years)
- Willingness to complete Child Abuse Registry check
- Experience with youth related programs and/or interaction with children/youth
- Valid driver’s license
- Additional language would be an asset
- Commitment to the organization’s vision of accessible, healthy and sustainable food for all
HOURS OF WORK: 40 hrs. per week. Ability to work flexible hours as needed
