The Coalition of Manitoba Neighbourhood Renewal Corporations (CMNRC) is made up of thirteen non-profit organizations that represent resident and community interests in a combination of urban and rural locations across Manitoba. CMNRC was created in 2011 to give Manitoba’s Neighbourhood Renewal Corporations (NRCs) a venue to work collaboratively on planning, projects and initiatives of common interest.
Overview
CMNRC is looking for a qualified consultant to provide services relating to human resource management, board governance and strategic planning to the following thirteen Neighbourhood Renewal Corporations (NRC) in Manitoba: West Broadway Development Corporation, Spence Neighbourhood Association, North End Community Renewal Corporation, Daniel McIntyre/St. Matthews Community Association, Central Neighbourhoods Development Corporation, Brandon Neighbourhood Renewal Corporation, Thompson Neighbourhood Renewal Corporation, Selkirk Community Renewal Corporation, Dauphin Neighbourhood Renewal Corporation, Portage la Prairie Community Revitalization Corporation, Flin Flon Neighbourhood Revitalization Corporation, The Pas Community Renewal Corporation and Chalmers Neighbourhood Renewal Corporation.
Activities
- Administration of project - The project will be managed by the West Broadway Development Corporation and a steering committee of member NRCs. The consultant will communicate directly with the thirteen member NRCs to ascertain needs and find solutions.
- Board governance - The consultant will work with NRC Boards to improve governance practices. This includes board training on governance, developing board protocols, job descriptions and policies.
- Strategic planning - The consultant will work with the NRC Boards, Executive Directors and staff to develop and improve upon strategic planning practices. This includes measuring progress on previous strategic plans, developing annual strategic plans and ensuring board and staff are involved in creating and implementing the strategic plan.
- Human Resource Management - The consultant will work with NRC Executive Directors and staff to improve Human Resource Management practices. This includes updating Human Resource policies and protocols to ensure they are consistent with Labour Standards, filing practices and trouble-shooting labour issues.
Skills and Experience
- Extensive experience and/ or knowledge of not-for-profit organizations and activity areas (board governance, strategic planning, human resource management, administrative procedures and succession planning).
- Dynamic professional with experience and knowledge of:
- Northern, Rural and inner city issues
- Areas of interest related to Indigenous Peoples
- Current realities for New Canadians living in Manitoba
- Community Economic Development principles
- The volunteer Sector
- Strong workshop facilitation skills and experience delivering workshops to a wide diversity of individuals.
- Available to travel to rural and northern Manitoba.
- Excellent record keeping and report writing skills.
- Superior communication skills using telephone or computer programs (eg. Skype)
The consultant will:
- Provide 32 hours ($3000) of eligible services to each of the thirteen (13) NRCs to support identified needs. Service hours not used by one NRC will be shared across other NRCs as needs require.
- Provide eligible support services as prioritized by NRCs specific to human resource management, board governance and strategic planning.
- Use four hours for meetings between NA! and RECIPIENT.
Remuneration is $35,000 for one year of service and up to $7,000 for travel expenses. This is the maximum amount available and must include GST and PST. We hope this project will be extended but for now it is one year project, ending July 1st, 2017.
