Textbooks for Change (T4C) is a B Corp and start-up that provides affordable and accessible educational materials to students around the world. We repurpose used textbooks to create social impact and improve the educational landscape for students around the world.

We do this by:

  • Donating thousands of post-secondary textbooks to African universities annually
  • Selling affordable used textbooks to North American students and using proceeds to help fund student-led impact initiatives
  • Diverting thousands of textbooks from landfills by recycling them efficiently

Job Role

At T4C we have been pushing hard to create strong partnerships across Ontario with post secondary institutions. We engrain ourselves into the campus culture by engaging students looking to have fun while creating a global impact. Now, we need someone who can grow and optimize our campus partnerships so we can create the most impact possible.

We are looking for a highly motivated, passionate leader to join our team and take on the task of optimizing our growth across post-secondary institutions in Ontario. Working alongside our marketing and business development teams, you will lead a team of student ambassadors, manage existing campus relationships, and develop new initiatives and events to grow our presence on campus.

Your role includes:

  1. Leading a team of 15-20 Head Campus Ambassadors at Ontario post-secondary schools and carry out activities including textbook fundraising drives and on- campus marketing events
  2. Optimizing our presence at our 26 partner campuses by developing relationships and creating dedicated campus strategies
  3. Organizing and managing campaigns, events, and initiatives that connect students with our social impact, purpose, and brand
  4. Recruiting and onboarding new campus ambassadors at campuses across Ontario
  5. Acting as the main point of contact for all our campus contacts, ensuring they are getting the most value out of their T4C experience

You have:

  • Experience leading teams and motivating students in a student government or club leadership position
  • Experience in customer success, project management, or sales
  • A post-secondary degree in business, international development, or a related field
  • A proven track record: You’ve created exceptional results through leading people and can manage crucial partnerships to foster growth
  • Balance: You know how to manage your time effectively and prioritize jobs
  • A life: You have passions outside of work and contribute to the community that you live in

You are:

  • Passionate for social change: Making a dent in the universe is something you want to be apart of
  • Organized: the devil is in the details, and you love the details
  • Process-driven: you can handle multiple projects at once and are always on the ball
  • A great communicator: You know how to get your message across clearly and concisely to your audience on the phone, an email, or in person
  • Energetic: Your enthusiasm is contagious
  • A people person: you will strike up a conversation with anyone, anywhere and would be a great person to be on a road-trip with
  • Gritty: You are resilient in pursuing your goals, even when the going gets tough
  • Fast paced: We’ve grown 250% year over year; you can help us get to 300%
  • A fast learner: You are hungry to take on new projects to expand your knowledge; You execute, make a mistake, learn, and iterate to always be improving
  • Focused and flexible: Sometimes you’ll work from the office, sometimes on campuses, and sometimes from home; no matter where it is, the job gets done
  • Adaptable: Your role may change as we grow, but you are okay to take on new challenges. No task is above you
  • Team-Oriented: You don’t think what’s in it for me, you think what’s in it for the team

What this job is not:

  • Easy: This job will be the most challenging role you’ve ever had. Working at a start- up is hard. Building a start-up while making a major social impact is harder. This job will test you and in the end, you will have one damn good story to tell
  • Structured: Your day-to-day will change constantly adapting to the needs of our campus partners, the campus ambassadors, and our team

We need you to:

  • Motivate People: Lead a large, geographically dispersed team to achieve ambitious goals, while having fun and creating an impact
  • Innovate: Learn what’s working on campuses and create ways to push that forward
