Food Matters Manitoba (FMM) is seeking an accomplished senior executive in Winnipeg, Manitoba for a rewarding, six month opportunity. Role Summary
The Acting Executive Director is responsible to advance Food Matters Manitoba strategic and operational direction, workplace culture and stakeholder and community relations. The Acting Executive Director will lead the implementation of Board strategy in a manner consistent with the mission, vision, and values of the organization.
Key Accountabilities
Reporting to the Board of Directors through the Board Chairperson, the Acting Executive Director is accountable for the following:
- Continued development of the multi-year strategic plan
- Driving development and philanthropy
- Implementing board policy and decisions
- Monitoring and overseeing financial management of the organization
- Leading, developing and managing staff
- Overseeing the administration of the office and the organization
- Leading and developing organizational readiness plans and change management strategy
- Developing, planning and overseeing the delivery of programs and services
- Establishing, maintaining and advancing community relations and Food Matters Manitoba’s profile
Education
- Related Bachelor’s Degree (e.g. Business Administration in Not-for-Profit management, community social work, social geography) or
- Equivalent combination of education and experience
Experience
- Minimum 5- 10 years’ experience in a senior leadership role in complex multi-stakeholder organizations
- Experience in initiating, planning, implementing and evaluating programs and services
- Experience in managing, leading and developing staff
- Experience in revenue generation through social enterprise, philanthropy, fundraising, grant and proposal writing
- Accomplished networker and relationship-builder, experienced in representing an organization to stakeholders
- Experience reporting to a volunteer board would be an asset
Knowledge, skills and abilities
- Working knowledge of budgeting, business development and strategic thinking
- Familiarity with personal and business computer applications
- Ability to challenge the status quo and develop people to exceed their potential
- Sound judgement and decision-making skills
- Knowledge of board processes and board reporting in the not-for-profit sector
- Outstanding communication skills – oral, presentation, written; the ability to communicate to both internal and external audiences
