Here and Now: The Winnipeg Plan to End Youth Homelessness is a collaborative and community-based plan that a shared vision, action framework, and grounding principles for effective systems’ integration, policy and program alignment, and collaboration to prevent and end youth homelessness in Winnipeg.

The Coordinator will be responsible for the implementation, action, and governance of Here and Now. The Coordinator is expected to work with a Governance Committee of project partners in this implementation, as well as facilitating ongoing research and consultation with government, community, business and youth stakeholders.

HOURS: Full-time, 37.5 hours (12 month contract, renewable based on funding)
SCHEDULE: Monday to Friday; some weekend and evening work may be required
HOURLY WAGE: $25-30/hr depending on experience

Key Responsibilities

Coordination and Governance (70%)

  • Facilitate the development and ongoing functioning of an effective governing body that reflects the values of reconciliation and aligns with existing strategies to maximize impact
  • Produce an Alignment Strategy and Document with End Homelessness Winnipeg
  • Coordinate and facilitate regular meetings within Action Groups and Innovation Committee meetings with Provincial partners
  • Facilitate ongoing planning within Action Groups
  • Establish, support, and monitor communication pathways of each Action Group
  • Develop a 5 year action plan and evaluation strategy for the Here and Now: Winnipeg Plan to End Youth Homelessness

Sustainability & Communications (30%)

  • Create a sub-committee to direct sustainability activities
  • Develop a funding plan to clarify sustainability goals, create objectives, and identify measures to track funding progress and outcomes
  • Identify potential partners in the private sector and government
  • Prepare written materials for promotion, outlining the vision, purpose, and goals of the plan
  • Prepare and give presentations to various groups and stakeholders
  • Formalize multi-year relationships with MOUs, funding agreements
  • Lead the development of grant applications, for review by the Governance Committee

12 Month Deliverables

  • A 5 year Action and Evaluation Strategy for the Winnipeg Plan to End Youth Homelessness
  • A sustainability plan

Experience and qualifications

Post-Secondary Degree in Social Sciences or a combination of education and experience preferred. Excellent written and oral communication skills:

  • Demonstrated experience facilitating action groups and consultations of diverse stakeholders and varied sizes
  • Ability to manage conflict and bridge diversity within a consensus decision-making model
  • Experience compiling research and information into brief reports
  • Skilled at grant writing

Project management skills and experience:

  • Ability to manage external relationships (client and partners) and ability to deliver to targets
  • Self-motivation and ability to work independently
  • Strong interpersonal and organizational skills
  • Clear and effective delegation with small teams or action committees

Relationship skills:

  • Demonstrated experience developing constructive, productive and sustainable relationships with colleagues, collaborators/associates, partners and potential funders
  • Demonstrated understanding of relationships between political, social and economic context in Winnipeg and Indigenous homelessness and commitment to decolonizing practice
  • Excellent computer skills for use in word processing, research, communications
  • Strong understanding of and sensitivity to issues related to homelessness, affordable housing, youth services, poverty and social justice
