POSITION SUMMARY

In accordance with BUILD’s philosophy, goals and standard practices, the Renovation Crew Lead functions as a member of a team, producing quality work and service for our customers, as well as skills development for on-the-job trainees. The Renovation Crew Lead is responsible for all paperwork, inspections, and quality control for the assigned renovation jobs. The Renovation Crew Lead mentors and supervises crew members and trainees in their job skill development.

POSITION DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The Renovation Crew Lead operates under the direction of the Renovation Division Leader (80%), Production Manager (10%), in collaboration with the Training Department (10%), and is responsible for:

Leading On-Site Renovations – 75%

  • Attending to active job sites, performing as the crew leader, ensuring that timely progress is being made on the assigned work.
  • Keeping job sites clean, organized, and safe.
  • Ensuring all safety protocols are being met at all times.
  • Maintaining strong customer service.
  • Reporting to Division Leader on any jobsite matters, including timelines, tools and purchases, customer service issues, and any on-site incidents.

Supervision and Training – 20%

  • Providing instruction, feedback, and mentoring on construction techniques to trainees.
  • Maintaining quality control, to Manitoba Housing standards, for any assigned job sites.
  • Conducting inspections of team member’s work, including troubleshooting difficult site work.
  • Providing direct feedback to Training Coordinator on trainee performance.

Administration – 5%

  • Reading, interpreting, and implementing Manitoba Housing work orders.
  • Tracking daily use of materials and providing reports to Renovation Division Leader.
  • Maintaining tools, and reporting maintenance and new purchases.
  • Completing Daily Time Logs, indicating hours spent on job for all crew members, recording progress and challenges on job sites.

BUILD inc. is a Social Enterprise (non-for-profit contractor) that trains individuals with multiple employment barriers for a long-term, meaningful career in the trades. We train those who would be either under-employed, or unemployed, and prepare them for the work-force, while performing trades-based work with real-world contracts. 

BUILD is looking for a Renovation Crew Lead. This individual will be able to perform interior renovation tasks, while training and building up trainees.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • A minimum of three years of related work experience in the field of interior renovations.
  • Comprehensive knowledge and experience as a construction trainer.
  • Demonstrated superior communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to effectively manage multiple tasks and stress in a time sensitive environment.
  • Excellent assessment and problem-solving skills.
  • Valid Class 5 driver's license is mandatory.
  • Must be able to work independently
  • Willing to obtain a criminal record check and a child abuse registry check.
