Position: Supervisor (Clinical focus)
The Women’s Support and Recovery Program Supervisor is a member of the Women’s Support and Recovery Program Team; supervises certain staff within Women’s Support and Recovery Program Team; and provides direct services to the participants of the Women’s Support and Recovery Program at North End Women’s Centre.
Qualifications
- Post-secondary degree or certificate in the social services field (other combinations of relevant education and experience may be considered).
- Minimum two (2) years of experience providing operational direction and supervision. Providing clinical supervision is an asset.
- Minimum three (3) years of experience providing long term, short term, and/or crisis counselling to women who have experienced addiction; trauma; homelessness; and sexual exploitation.
- Experience in the development, organization, and facilitation of groups and programs for women of diverse backgrounds.
- Experience working in a community based setting in the North End of Winnipeg and knowledge of inner city challenges is an asset.
- Minimum (3) years of experience working with women in a residential setting.
- Experience working in cross-functional team.
- Strong leadership, coordination and supervisory skills.
- Strong consultative and conflict management skills.
- Strong time management, organizational, decision making, and problem solving skills.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Highly motivated and self-directed with the ability to work on multiple tasks, adjust quickly to shifting priorities, meet deadlines, exercise good judgment, and handle pressure situations.
- Ability to demonstrate a positive attitude, a sense of humour, energy, and a high degree of initiative and flexibility within a professional setting.
- Strong computer skills and experience in related software, including proficiency in Word, Excel and Access.
- Knowledge of, and experience working with Indigenous people particularly in terms of the historical context, traditions, teachings as well as the unique barriers Indigenous women face.
- Knowledge of the impacts of poverty, addictions, sexual exploitation, homeless, mental health, and violence on women.
- Knowledge of a variety of different counselling styles and techniques.
- Knowledge of addictions recovery and relapse prevention planning.
- Knowledge of sexual exploitation and sex trafficking recovery.
- Knowledge of the resources available in the community for women experiencing poverty, homelessness, domestic violence, mental illness, addictions and sexual exploitation.
- Non-judgemental and accepting attitude.
- Ability to deal with crisis situations in an appropriate manner.
- Understanding of and commitment to a strength based and solution oriented approach.
- Knowledge and demonstrated ability to apply trauma informed care, cultural proficiency, and harm reduction principles is an asset.
- Provides support in delivery of HR functions, including performance appraisal, training and development.
- Knowledge of evaluation processes and data collection.

Duties and Responsibilities
Supervisory Responsibilities
- To support, mentor, and provide guidance to the Women’s Support and Recovery Program Team.
- To provide day to day supervision to certain members of the Women’s Support and Recovery Program Team ensuring they are adhering to all policies and procedures within the Employee Policy & Procedure Manual.
- To provide clinical supervision to certain members of the Women’s Support and Recovery Program Team.
- To initiate and conduct annual performance reviews for certain members of the Women’s Support and Recovery Program Team.
- To monitor the intake waitlist and ensure the Women’s Support and Recovery Program are maintaining required caseload/occupancy.
- To attend community events and meetings and to sit on community committees as determined in consultation with the program manager.
- To research, create, and maintain all Women’s Support and Recovery Program modules in consultation with program manager.
- To develop, monitor, and ensure adherence to the service delivery policies and procedures in consultation with the Program Manager.
- To conduct trainings with new staff, students, or volunteers within the Women’s Support and Recovery Program in consultation with the Program Manager.
Direct Service Responsibilities
- To provide counselling to women in the Women’s Support and Recovery Program (Caseload of 1-2 women as needed)
- To connect women requiring housing with the Housing Program staff.
- To connect women requiring addictions recovery with the Addictions Program staff.
- To plan and facilitate/co-facilitate groups and workshops in the Women’s Support and Recovery Program as needed
- To assist women in accessing and connecting to community resources that will help meet their basic needs as needed
- To empower women to advocate for themselves and to advocate on their behalf when necessary as needed
- To provide information, referral, and support to women as needed.
- To act as a role model for women modeling healthy relationships, boundaries, and communication
- To facilitate community presentations on NEWC programming as needed.
Administrative Duties
- To maintain participant files as outlined in the Employee Policy and Procedure Manual.
- Oversee program room schedule in consultation with the Program Manger.
- To create and manage staff schedule and arrange coverage for shifts that staff can’t attend.
- To prepare and submit monthly program reports to the Program Manager.
Job Status: Full Time, Term (October 2017 – March 31, 2018 with possibility of extension)
Hours: 37.5 hours/week (Shift Work/Days/Evenings/possible weekends)

Salary Range: $21-$25 per hour
