This role is accountable to provide strategic vision, leadership and guidance to support the delivery of community development
activities in the Family and Community Supports Section. Here, you will lead a team of up to 15 professional social workers and
oversee the development and implementation of integrated community development social work across the city.
Key responsibilities include:
- Develop and oversee an integrated community development framework and services including a focus on community economic development.
- Implement integrated programs and approaches through the work of staff
- Plan and implement strategies that will optimize the effectiveness of processes and resources
- Lead, hire, guide, empower, coach, manage performance etc employees through their entire lifecycle;
- Scan the environment for improvement and integration opportunities
- Align resources for delivering services to achieve neighbourhood and corporate outcomes
- Translate strategic outcomes into practical goals and objectives
- Develop systems and processes that facilitate appropriate information flow and knowledge management across functional areas
- Develop and monitor budgets
- Demonstrate and promote the City’s corporate culture and Leadership Principles
- Manage change and conflict resolution
- Develop relationships with other business units, sections, and external partners
- Respond to Councillor and media inquiries
Qualifications :
- University Degree in Social Work; Registered Social Worker (RSW) with the Alberta College of Social Work (ACSW)
- Master's Degree in Community Development or Community Economic Development is an asset
- 5 + years professional experience in managing community development and/or community economic development projects/initiatives; current knowledge of leading practice in community development
- Experience managing operational teams, developing and leading community collaboratives is required; experience with partnership and strategy development is an asset
- Effective communication, presentation, supervision, problem solving, team building and conflict resolution skills required
- Experience developing and maintaining effective working relationships with partners and internal/external stakeholders
- Excellent project management skills
- Hire is dependent upon a Police Information Check, including vulnerable sector that is satisfactory to the City of Edmonton

Salary: $ 84,597 - $ 120,852 (Annually)
