Business Administrative Assistant Instructor/Program Support

Position Summary
The Business Administrative Assistant Instructor is responsible for providing community based in-class instruction to Adult learners. In addition the Instructor will provide adult learners with coaching and support that motivates and assists learners in overcoming barriers, as well as tracking and monitoring student progress. The instructor must be able to provide classroom instruction towards preparing students for a career in the Administrative field. The incumbent will also have a commitment to the strengths and values of Indigenous knowledge, cultural reclamation, traditional practices, as well as the protocols, policies and procedures of the organization.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Prepare and deliver lesson plans and activities according to the provided curriculum;
- Ability to recognize individual learning styles and the characteristics of Adult learners and use those styles in the classroom including lectures, labs, land based, and filed lessons, etc.
- Evaluation of student performance, lesson and test marking, revision of curriculum, and ability to adapt material for the learning needs of the student;
- Have a high degree of resourcefulness, flexibility, and adaptability to changes as they occur
- Excellent conflict resolution and mediation skills;
- Ability to assess the needs of individual Adult learners, including emotional, personal, physical or spiritual, and provide additional support to assist students in achieving goals and breaking down barriers;
- Manage academic progress and provide students with feedback;
- Participate in organizational business including staff meetings, community events, workshops, and provide program support as needed.
Skills and Abilities
- Demonstrated commitment to the strengths and values of Indigenous knowledge, cultural reclamation and traditional practices;
- Experience working with Adult Learners;
- Computer literacy, including strong knowledge of Microsoft Office including Access, WORD, Excel and Outlook;
- Knowledge and ability to teach and to instruct in a variety of business areas; A broad knowledge of adult development and teaching methods.
Qualifications
- The successful candidate will possess both a post-secondary credential in business administration or a related field and relevant practical experience. Preference will be given to individuals with experience in a teaching or training capacity in adult education;
- A provincial teaching certificate may also be considered;
- Provide a Criminal Background Check, Child Abuse Registry Check and Drivers Abstract.
