What We Need

Ka Ni Kanichihk Inc. requires an Early Childhood Educator Level III Daycare Director for a 16 space Licensed Child Care Centre, with an expansion projected. The Daycare Director is responsible for planning, implementing and supervising daycare activities to meet the physical, emotional, intellectual and social needs of children in the program in accordance with all relevant legislation, policies and procedures. The Daycare Director will assist Daycare Workers in their daily activities, develop programs and activities for children, promote a welcoming and positive environment, and ensure Cultural programming as an imperative. The Daycare Director, with Ka Ni Kanichihk, will oversee all aspects of the program and are accountable to the centre administration including but not limited to the hiring process, employee performance reviews and maintain and monitor of the daycare budget. The Daycare Director will build positive and respectful relationships with children and parents and ensure that equipment and facilities are clean, safe and well maintained.

Qualifications

  • Early Childhood Educator III classification as issued by the Manitoba Early learning and Child Care department;
  • Current First Aid and CPR (level “C”) certificate;
  • Minimum of four (4) years related experience in a child care setting working with infants and preschool aged children;
  • Minimum of two (2) years directly related experience in a director’s role;
  • Knowledge of Licensing Regulations and Accreditations;
  • Commitment to the strengths and values of Indigenous knowledge, cultural reclamation and traditional healing practices and demonstrate an ability to implement Indigenous ways of being into daily practice and early learning activities
  • Knowledge of children’s development, agency policies and human resources procedures;
  • High energy level with strong work ethic;
  • Strong ability to work with parents and children’s families in providing support towards success;
  • Ability to plan and implement activities that are based on the child’s interests while being developmentally appropriate and culturally based;
  • Strong morals and ethics, along with a commitment to staff and participant privacy.
