The Saint John Community Loan Fund is looking for a change agent that can add value to our enterprise development programs and help us launch more amazing enterprises.
We are a community development corporation that helps individuals and organizations go after opportunity to build assets and economic independence. The tools we use include financing, training, coaching and real estate development. We are located at the Social Enterprise Hub, a building we constructed to house enterprising nonprofits, social enterprises, and micro enterprises. At the Hub we are a cluster of groups that are passionate about scaling impact, whether in environmental stewardship, literacy, employment and enterprise, or purposeful community research and policy development. It’s a dynamic and inspiring workplace.
Your job is to facilitate and scale our enterprise development training and support. The corner stone is Enterprising Women, a 15-week training program with one on one coaching. We are in our 8th year in Saint John and now expanding to Sussex. It is an exciting opportunity for you to make a difference towards the cause. You will also deliver short courses in business basics, business modelling and social enterprise 101.
You are a creative thinker with an entrepreneurial mindset. You work hard. See challenge as opportunity. You make teams better. You want to make a difference. You think big and act locally. You don’t mind getting your hands dirty.
You are skilled at working with others; at training and coaching; at research, writing and developing great material; at business analysis and marketing; and well, a lot more. If you are bilingual, that is a huge asset for work around the province.
Your training and experience
We are not looking for a straight line here. It’s a combination. You may have earned a business degree and/or adult education degree. You may have launched your own business and/or helped others launch their social enterprise. You may have helped individuals on low income as a job, or you volunteer and see it as part of your life’s mission. The sky is the limit.
To apply, please send a letter outlining your fit for this position and a resume and/or portfolio of your work. Don’t be afraid to send anything else that tells your story and outlines your knowledge around program development, training and entrepreneurship. This job requires you to travel, so car needed! You can send us everything by email to seth at loanfund.ca. Salary range is $40,000-$45,000. Application deadline is March 12th. Position starts in April.
